ABOUT FIONA BRODIE DESIGN

Fiona Brodie graduated in 1995 from the University of Technology with a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours. The architectural course at UTS was perfect for her as it included a good mix of practicality and design. The six year part time degree allowed ample time to work in a variety of architectural practices and gain a wide range of experience.

Early on in her career, Fiona developed a passion for residential design work. Improving the quality of someone’s living space within their budget, complying with their brief and satisfying Council requirements became a challenge she thrived on.

In 1999, Fiona took on her first commission designing additions to an
existing dwelling and she also started to design her own home.
This gave her the incentive (and the excuse) to leave full time employment and start working for herself.  Building her first house was a fantastic experience.  Supervising all stages of construction including ordering materials and  becoming the owner builder was a wonderful learning curve. It also means she puts a strong focus on buildability when designing houses for others.
